Jane Green started her catering career in 1988 cooking memorable, corporate lunches and providing stylish food at private events. Clients loved her innovative ideas, delicious food, and her personal professional touch. Her imaginative style led to many wonderful and successful parties. The word Jane Green Catering spread. Today, Jane’s culinary skills are well known, highly regarded, and often talked about, in Johannesburg, Pretoria and beyond.

Jane Green Catering focuses on medium to large corporate events, for up to 500 guests, as well as smaller company functions and private dinner parties. The food is carefully prepared beforehand, but it is not cooked until Jane is on the site. The final preparation and plating takes place in the client's kitchen, as the client is greeting the guests. Jane Green Catering uses only the freshest, seasonal ingredients, and these are displayed and plated by Jane Green in her innovative artistic style. This ensures that the food is piping hot, appetizing, crisp, original and elegant. Jane prides herself on being able to cook anywhere, under any conditions, and still produce a high class meal.

One of the reasons why people constantly return to Jane Green Catering is because the food is cooked in the client’s kitchen and presented elegantly and piping hot at the table. Jane plans and prepares each meal beforehand but it is only cooked at the last minute to ensure that it is straight from the oven to the table. Jane is  well known for her culinary expertise and creativity when it comes to preparing meals for parties. Clients can enjoy their guests in the company of their home or venue and need not be concerned about the food.

Jane Green Catering is not a catering company for the masses; she offers a very personal touch to any catering event. The meal is carefully discussed with the client beforehand, and the client’s budget, food requirements and tastes are considered and adhered to. One of Jane’s specialties is her “moveable feast”  where a large number of guests can circulate as they are served with original small meals presented and prepared in unusual containers with individual prongs or cutlery. By using Jane Green Catering the client is always assured of a good party. Guests mingle and socialize, and they are able to pick and choose what they  want to eat. The host and hostess are relaxed because every detail is covered and all they need to do is socialize.

Movable Feast

This is undoubtedly Jane's specialty!

She asks the client to select 14 items from the lists below for their function. Once the food is cooked to perfection in your kitchen, it is passed around to the guests by Jane's waiters. This eliminates any hiring costs as Jane brings in all the necessary crockery and cutlery required.
  1. Honey roasted fig and pancetta crostini with gorgonzola
  2. Artichoke, olive and tomato crostini with basil pesto
  3. Phyllo and parma wrapped asparagus with sesame seeds
  4. Caramelised pear and blue cheese tarts topped with microgreens
  5. Beetroot and feta phyllo samoosa’s served with a minted yoghurt dip
  6. Creamy leek and potato soup served with a cheese straw
  7. Smoked salmon on potato rosti with creme fraiche and sprouts
  8. Salt and pepper calamari
  9. Parma ham rolled with rocket, blue cheese and green fig preserve
  10. Vietnamese rice wrappers with minted vegetables julienne
  11. Radish vietnamese rice wrappers with cranberries and a cashew nut dipping sauce
  12. Smoked salmon on spoons with radish pickle and dill
  13. Peking duck crepes with hoisin sauce
  14. Orange glazed duck on potato rosti with crystallized grapefruit peel
  15. Prawns tempura served with a ginger dipping sauce
  16. Camembert phyllo cigars served with a fresh berry coulis and strawberries
  17. Lemon and thyme risotto balls served with a basil mayo
  18. Upside down roasted tomato tartlets with basil pesto
  19. Rare roast fillet served on crostini topped with homemde tomato chilli chutney and a lime and coriander mayo
  20. Potato skins served with sour cream and chives
  21. Cheese toastie souffles
  22. Babotie triangles served on cinnamon sticks with homemade peach chutney
  23. Chicken Yakatori satay served in shot glasses with peanut sauce
  24. Deboned chicken thighs with a mango coriander sauce
  25. Thai chicken "lollipops" served on banana leaves with a plum dipping sauce
  26. Cocktail sausages glazed with orange marmalade and topped with toasted sesame seed
  27. Italian spring rolls (parma ham, basil and smoked mozzarella cheese)
  28. Vegetable spring rolls served with a sweet and sour sauce
  29. Haloumi and cherry tomato skewers with fresh basil
  30. Mini hamburgers spiked with cherry tomatoes
  31. Moroccan meatballs with pomegranate glaze and rubies
  32. Beef koftkas with a minted yoghurt dipping sauce

"An unforgettable taste sensation"
On Friday afternoon at Ninety North Guest House I had the privilege of encountering Jane Green Catering's 'movable feast' for the first time. I say 'encountering' because it was nothing short of a phenomenal experience: platter after platter of mind-bogglingly beautiful eats arriving one after the other - each eat leaving you wondering whether Jane Green could top this one. Here's the fact: she did! From the batter-dipped prawns with sweet chilli sauce to the fillet on crispy rounds, on to the salmon goodies (I have no clue of their names!) and the vegetable spring rolls through the newspaper-wrapped mini chip and fish meals, this was fit for a king. "A phenomenal success"
"Thank you very much for the time and effort put in to making sure the catering was such a phenomenal success at the Rolls-Royce Black Badge launch at Kyalami this weekend. As always, we received numerous compliments about the food and I was highly impressed at how immaculate the harvest station was kept at all times. Not once did I see a platter looking empty or the station looking untidy or short of plates etc. As you know, the MD as well as the Marketing Manager for Middle East and Africa were highly impressed with the food quality and standard – in fact I think Julia wants to steal you for Dubai ; )
